Salary: Starting salary £10 per hour (£20,280 per annum (FTE)) rising to £10.50 per hour (£21,294.00 (FTE)) plus generous benefits package, including a £500 welcome payment

Job Purpose

Our Personal Assistants support people to lead full, active and socially connected lives, supporting people to achieve the things that matter to them.

Applicants should have, or be willing to work towards, a qualification meeting the standards required for registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).

Would you like to make a difference in the life of a very sociable young lady who has taken a huge step in her life, and moved to a new home last year in Craigmillar, Edinburgh?

Her house has a garden and we hope to support her explore her environment and community that she has wanted for a long time and is looking for male* Personal Assistants who are enthusiastic, committed and understanding that it will take time to know her.

We are looking for people on a full time, part time and pool basis.

Experience in supporting people with Autism, learning Disabilities and Epilepsy is preferable but not required.

*Exemption under Equality Act 2010

About this opportunity

Her staff need to be able to keep calm when situations get demanding and this can happen at times when she is anxious and feels vulnerable. Although it is a very exciting time, this life changing transition is a big adjustment for her and brings with it the need to feel safe, secure and confident in those around her. Staff will need to be resilient and work together using a structure and approach to help her feel confident and safe; it will also be a time that requires patience and understanding from the team.  Staff will need to help her enjoy her life and connect with her community especially in her neighbourhood as well as creatively looking at other ventures and activities that may be of interest to be part of.

You would be working in a small, friendly team and will build a relationship with the lady and her family.
