About the role...

As Area Medical Director for our North & South of Tyne Urgent Care Services, you will provide professional medical leadership within Totally’s Urgent Care Division.

You’ll be responsible for Primary Care led urgent healthcare services, working closely with the Area Operational Director and Area Clinical Director.  A key role, you will also contribute to delivering the divisions strategy, leading high quality and performing services, foster effective relationships with senior stakeholders and develop new innovative services and pathways that benefit local patients.

You will work up to 24 hours per week in a managerial role and also clinically within local services – you will also provide ‘out of hours’ and ‘on-call’

Our Urgent Care Division delivers highly successful services within 111, Clinical Assessment Services (CAS), GP Out of Hours (GPOOH) and Urgent Treatment Centres (UTC) across a national footprint.  You’ll join our growing team at an exciting time within our fit for purpose structure.

 Your Day to Day…

  • Visible and responsive to the needs of the clinical workforce,
  • Provide professional leadership for the planning and strategic direction of services,
  • Act as the line manager to the service Medical Leads,
  • Lead the development and implementation of clinical innovations,
  • Ensure revalidation and clinical supervision is undertaken appropriately,
  • Represent the Urgent Care Division at meetings with Partners, Commissioners, NHSE, CQC and senior stakeholder groups.
  • Work with the Area leadership team to promote quality, safety and productivity

Qualification, Training & Experience…

  • An established GP with considerable experience of primary care out of hours or urgent care work,
  • On an English performers list,
  • Up to date with NHS Appraisal and Revalidation requirements,
  • Possess a current and full registration with the General Medical Council,
  • Level 3/4 Safeguarding training.
