About the role…

Totally Urgent Care Division is a leading provider of national urgent care and out of hospital services following the integration of Vocare and Greenbrook. We have an exciting opportunity for Advanced Nurse Practitioners to join our team on a bank basis, based at our Urgent Treatment Centre within Sunderland Hospital.

Working as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner within our Urgent Treatment Centre, you will be responsible for the assessment of health and clinical needs of our patients, undertaking consultations as an autonomous practitioner, you'll use your advanced clinical practice skills, and own clinical judgement to diagnose, treat, refer or discharge patients. This role will include both telephone triage and face to face consultations supported by a variable rota covering weekday evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

Your day to day…

  • Carry out consultations with patients - taking a comprehensive patient history; physical examinations and use of your expert knowledge and clinical judgement to identify potential diagnosis.
  • Refer patients for investigations when necessary/appropriate.
  • Decide on and carry out treatment, including the prescribing of medicine or referring to primary or secondary care specialist services within local agreed pathways and protocols as appropriate.
  • Provide clinical advice and mentorship to junior clinical staff.


Qualifications, Experience & Training…

  • Registered Nurse – First Level Nurse or other healthcare professional qualification leading to registration
  • Evidence of degree level study or equivalent
  • Degree in advanced practice or equivalent
  • Evidence of completion of study in minor illness
  • Independent non-medical prescriber.
  • Evidence of study in minor injury or willingness to develop these skills
  • Evidence of completion of study in paediatric minor illness or willingness to develop these skills
  • Evidence of study in paediatric minor injury or willingness to develop these skills
