NHS 111 Health Advisor, Vocare House

About the role & Totally 

Partnering with the NHS, Totally plc provides NHS 111 services nationally from our call centres in Newcastle Upon Tyne, Teesside, Stoke and Stafford. NHS 111 is an urgent care service staffed by a team of specially trained Health Advisors, supported by experienced clinicians including nurses, doctors and paramedics.

NHS 111 is available to patients 24 hours a day including weekends and bank holidays, we provide a range of shifts that cover daytime, evenings, weekends and overnights. We have full and part time roles available with patterns covering 16-37.5 hours per week.

Our teams help patients to get the right advice and treatment when they need it. Using specialised support systems, you will undertake health assessments in order to signpost patients to the most appropriate service to meet their needs. This may include:

  • Sending an ambulance for those patients who have life threatening symptoms or conditions
  • Referrals to an Emergency Department or an Urgent Treatment Centre
  • Making an appointment with GP and dental services
  • Signposting patients to pharmacies or other local services
  • Arranging self-care and home management advice

You do not need to have previous experience within healthcare. What we look for are the qualities that ensure our staff are excellent communicators, able to remain calm under pressure and deliver great service with care and compassion.

You will be provided with full training for your role which will equip you with the knowledge, skills and tools required to deliver an excellent quality of service to our patients. You will undertake a 6 week programme of training that includes both classroom based and practical sessions as well as supervised practice taking live calls with support from our coaching staff.

It is an exciting time within the organisation as we work with our partners and commissioners to adapt to the ever-changing demands of healthcare within our communities. In addition to NHS 111 we also deliver clinical assessment, GP out of hours and urgent treatment services within the Urgent Care Division which provides opportunities for growth and development within your career.

 

Qualification, Experience or Training

  • 3 GCSE grade C or above (including English) or equivalent relevant work-based experience
  • Experienced and competent in using IT software and packages
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A professional, caring empathetic attitude
  • Enjoy working as part of a team
