Business Development Manager - Tech Solutions

About The Role

As an integrated member of our business winning Function you will be personally responsible for both the proactive and reactive generation of qualified opportunities and taking ownership of driving them through the business winning process to become booked orders. You'll be expected to exhibit strong collaborative behaviours and achieve success through positive team working. You will be given a personal sales target against which your performance will be measured in the context of developing value propositions tailored to address customer problems and generating profitable orders. You will be required to support our Go-to-Market strategy through interaction with the Market Leads, our Sales Operations team and engagement with the Programme/Service Delivery Managers and the Discipline Leads.

Key Duties / Responsibilities

  • Developing a pipeline of opportunities in collaboration with TRL’s Market Development Leads, Programme Delivery Managers, Discipline Leads and Chief Scientists
  • Developing, and taking to market, compelling Value Proposition centred on solving customer problems. e.g. Technology Integration/Implementation, Technology Demonstration, Trials/Testing, Consumer Perceptions/Technology Adoption, Development of CONOPS
  • Converting opportunities to booked orders in line with personal target
  • Set Campaign win strategies and deliver against challenging objectives securing core and strategic sales opportunities
  • Ensuring the integrity of the data associated with your opportunities is fit-for-purpose within the Hub at all times
  • Timely and accurate reporting, forecasting and providing input into the annual budget and business planning cycle

Skills & Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience of operating within a business winning function and have knowledge of sales operations.
  • Have a track record of successfully developing business and delivering sales performance in the surface transport market.
  • Experience of creating commercially innovative, value-adding solutions/services
  • Selecting and working with commercial partners.
  • Extensive domain knowledge of the UK and TRL’s chosen international markets.

Qualifications

Degree qualified or equivalent and relevant experience.
