About The Role

We are seeking an exceptional Researcher/ Consultant to join our safety team. Working within an established team of experts, we can offer a career with constant variety that combines sound scientific research with real world implementation. We are keen to hear from new Graduates as well as those with previous road safety experience.

TRL’s safety team supports research, recommendations and advice on safety factors. We provide the critical insight and data that contributes to commercial and government sector mobility and transport projects and informs public safety decision-making and legislation. Our work includes operational safety and risk management, developing regulations and standards, accident data analysis and large-scale strategic planning using the Safe System approach to road safety audit.

Key Duties / Responsibilities

In this role you will be involved with delivering a range of projects that provide innovative solutions for road safety and transport research.

The work includes designing and delivering on-road trials, evaluating road safety engineering and traffic management operations, and understanding road user behaviour. The role will require occasional travel to trial sites

Skills & Experience

  • Enthusiasm and a willingness to gain new knowledge and learn new skills
  • Ability to learn, develop and work proactively
  • A can-do attitude to problem solving, including outside of your subject area
  • Strong team working and communication skills
  • Excellent written English; accuracy and attention to detail are essential
  • An ability to analyse data and interpret findings
  • Familiarity with Microsoft office software, particularly Word and Excel.
  • A full driving licence, as you will be required to drive to trial sites

Qualifications

  • A Degree (2:1 or above) in a STEM subject or related discipline.

Communication Requirements

Eligible candidates must be able to demonstrate fluency in both verbal and written English.
