Key Account Manager

About The Role                    CIQHP

Opportunity for an accomplished Account Manager with substantial expertise in developing and building the value proposition and sales pipeline for services within key customer accounts. The appointed individual will be responsible for delivering business growth with one or more major clients, by understanding the client’s needs and ensuring they see increased value and the highest client satisfaction from working with TRL.

The role is a critical part of TRLs mission to transform transport through the application of independent research. The position is likely to suit a senior person who has tired of the treadmill of a standard commercial organisation and is interested in playing a part in the creation of the future of transport.

Whilst a significant proportion of time will be spent with customers, to ensure success it will be necessary to invest time on the ground with the delivery teams - based from our offices in Birmingham or Crowthorne, Berkshire.

Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrated ability to build and leverage relationships at all levels within organisations.
  • Demonstrated ability to grow business with clients consistently over several years.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead dynamic teams (including senior technical, commercial and other skills) to shape, propose, win and successfully deliver projects for clients.
  • A track record of successfully developing business and delivering sales performance in the surface transport market would be desirable.

Qualifications

Due to the highly technical nature of our research and consultancy work, applicants will ideally be qualified in an Engineering or Science subject to Further or Higher Education level.

Communication Requirements

Applicants must be able to demonstrate highly polished communication skills – with the honed ability to actively listen and define and deliver a concise and compelling proposition.   To succeed you must be comfortable liaising with scientists and engineers who form much of our delivery team, and be able to distil their input into a message that further engages and meets the needs of the customer.  Strong presentation skills are a must.
