Service Overview

John Masefield House is situated in Abingdon along the River Thames, we have wonderful gardens with a seating area that looks over the river. Here at John Masefield House we support people from a range of ages and support needs. We support 22 people who have varying physical and long term neurological conditions.

Here at John Masefield House we make every day one to look forward to for the people we support and staff with activities to appeal to all and personalised entertainment to ensure that everyone has access to things they enjoy. 

What is the role?

Care Home Assistant Practitioner - £13 per hour - John Masefield House/ Full Time – Days

  • You will need to be confident to lead a team and be able to train, coach, motivate and develop a team.
  • Support training and supervision of junior and new staff members in all aspects of their work in the Care Home under the supervision of senior staff
  • Ensure the highest possible standards of care are used to assist people we support in all aspects of their care needs
  • Complete, observe and review care planning needs for people we support, and complete written daily records as instructed and in line with the Company’s policies and procedures
  • Undertake all appropriate aspects of nursing care required, including advanced clinical skills having gained the appropriate training
  • Follow direction and supervision from senior management including Registered Nurses.
  • Practice maximum integrity in all dealings with people we support personal and financial affairs, and avoid abuse of the privileged relationship that exists with people we support
  • Ensure all holistic assessments are carried out when admitting residents
  • Assist in framework of social activities by interacting with people we support and helping them continue with hobbies and activities in the Care Centre
  • Answer nurse call system, giving assistance as required.
  • Report on the well-being of people we support and liaise with GP’s and other external professionals whilst ensuring full privacy and dignity is maintained
