Walkers is internationally recognised as having one of the premier offshore insolvency, restructuring and dispute resolution practices, and is looking to expand its team in Hong Kong by recruiting a senior insolvency and dispute resolution lawyer to work on a diverse spectrum of work, with a focus on Cayman Islands and British Virgin Islands related restructuring and insolvency issues.

In addition, the individual will be required to support/manage lawyers within the Asia and Middle East region advising on all forms of dispute resolution (including shareholder and general corporate disputes), complex restructurings, contentious and non-contentious insolvencies and distressed situations, advising minority shareholders, trustees, stakeholders, creditors, debtors, private equity and hedge funds, and insolvency practitioners on a wide range of litigation and insolvency related matters. corporate governance matters.

While the underlying objective is to add strength in depth to the Hong Kong team through the hire of an established senior lawyer with an existing book of business, there are also succession considerations and as such this is a great opportunity for successful candidate to leverage off the firm's existing relationships.


  1. Qualified England and Wales lawyer with at least 5+ years of IDR experience at a strong international law firm (onshore or offshore) or relevant leading financial institution
  2. Substantial knowledge in insolvency and restructuring matters and at least 3 years working in the Asia region.
  3. A strong academic record;
  4. Excellent drafting and negotiation skills;
  5. Excellent analytical, organisation and communication skills, both written and oral. The successful candidate should be a sociable person, capable of communicating effectively at all levels;
  6. A strong commercial awareness, orientation of services towards client requirements and ability to operate to the highest standards;
  7. An ability to provide technically sound advice and a highly responsive service to clients.
  8. A calm and measured approach to problem solving;
  9. A track record of being able to work on their own initiative but also as part of a team in a collaborative environment;
  10. An ability to contribute knowledge and expertise to key area
  11. Chinese language skills a plus.
