F&B Assistant

What’s the role?

Working in either one or more areas of our operation as an F&B Assistant, you will be required to provide a high standard of service to customers, serve food and/or drinks, be accurate in handing monetary transactions and maintain a safe clean working environment.  Experience of working in a hospitality environment would be beneficial but not essential.

The Bread Oven

The Bread Oven provides delicious, bespoke fresh baguettes, filled to the customer's choice every weekday lunchtime and has always been a fast-moving favourite on campus.

Curiositea

Our quirky tea rooms offer something for everyone - tray bakes, loaf cakes and a huge selection of ethically-sourced teas and coffees. Customers love our vegan and gluten free cakes and wickedly indulgent hot chocolates.

Dirty Duck

A modern twist on the traditional, serving real value-for-money food and a variety of locally sourced products, real ales, wines, premium beers and spirits.  The key message is real ale-real food -real people- real welcome with a focus on great customer care.

Salary:             £8.72 per hour (under 23 years of age) or £8.91 per hour (aged 23 and over)

Duration:        Casual, until 2nd July 2022 and subject to a 10-week probationary period.

Hours:            You will be expected to work an average of 2 shifts a week (an average of 10-12 hours a week) throughout term time; although we cannot guarantee these hours.  Working hours will vary and will include evening and weekend work.

Location:       Warwick Students’ Union, Coventry. Occasional off site working is required

JOB DESCRIPTION

RESPONSIBLE TO:                  Team Leaders, Outlet Manager and Management Team, and through them, Commercial Operations Manager, Commercial Operations, Chief Executive, Board of Trustees      

RESPONSIBLE FOR:                None  

MAIN PURPOSE FOR JOB:     To help with the preparation and service of food and drink ensuring high standards of food hygiene and customer care          

MAIN DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To serve customers in a friendly and helpful manner, according to organisational policy on customer care and outlet service standards
  • To prepare and serve food and beverages for sale
  • To keep displays of beverages well stocked, tidy and clean
  • To support the Licensee in the upholding of the Justices on Licence and the Public Entertainments Licence
  • To operate tills, give change according to procedure. To follow all financial regulations as instructed
  • To keep preparation areas and seating areas clean and tidy and free from rubbish
  • To operate all machinery and equipment in a correct and safe manner. To use equipment for its designed purpose and according to organisational policy on Health and Safety, to follow manual handling procedures, to use equipment for its designed purpose and according to organisational policy on Health and Safety and to use appropriate protective clothing or equipment
  • To abide by current legislation and organisational policy concerning food hygiene, health, safety and fire.
  • To assist operations in all SU run Commercial areas where required
