The Students’ Union is the focal point of campus life and we have exciting opportunities for University of Warwick students to join our team!

What’s on offer:

Hourly Rate: £12.71 plus holiday pay calculated at 15.55% (equivalent of 35 days paid leave per year)

Duration: Fixed Term Contract until 4th July 2026 (subject to a 6-month probationary period), working throughout the academic year 2025/2026.

Hours: You will be expected to work an average of 10-20 hours per week throughout term time; although we cannot guarantee these hours.  Working times can be flexible. 

Location: Warwick Students’ Union, Coventry, with some flexibility for remote working.

What’s the role?
As Digital Support Assistant, you will have responsibility for a variety of activities from adding pages, events, and news articles to the SU websites, to updating our other Digital Applications and creating email templates.

With no two days the same, you’ll support our Digital Applications Manager, and the wider Communications and Marketing team in delivering digital communications to the students of Warwick

This is a great role for someone looking to gain digital comms experience, and a fantastic opportunity for the right person to really make a difference.

Reporting to the Digital Applications Manager, this role will:

  • Assist with the day to day updating of the SU Digital Applications
  • Add events and news articles to the SU website
  • Add new pages, and update existing content on the SU websites
  • Create HTML email templates as required.
  • Support with responding to general enquiries and troubleshooting.
  • Manage workload and prioritise activity in line with demands and in agreement with line manager
  • Attend regular team meetings and 1-2-1s with your line manager
  • Undertake all administrative work in relation to the role as necessary
  • Complete additional tasks as required as part of the Communications & Marketing Department

Who are you?
You’ll be an enthusiastic and reliable person with a positive approach to work in this interesting and varied role. Your strengths will be your passion for digital communications, along with your efficiency, and excellent organisational skills. You will have working knowledge and experience of using HTML 5, CSS3 and jQuery.

It’s essential that you have knowledge of any scripting language (like PHP), and that you have awareness of UI/UX best practices. You will also have experience in uploading content and data using website CMS, and be proficient with Microsoft Office.

You’ll be a quick learner, a logical thinker and be able to process and interpret information in a timely manner. You’ll be motivated, passionate about your work and have a commitment to delivering a great service for Warwick students. MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To provide support with updates to the SU Digital Applications

WORKS CLOSELY WITH: Digital Applications Manager, Digital Support Co-ordinator, Graphic Designer, Junior Graphic Designer, Communications and Marketing Manager, Communications and Marketing Co-ordinator, Data, Insight and Research Partner, Creative Content Coordinator, Business Development Manager.

MAIN DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To assist the Digital Applications Manager with the day to day updating of the SU Digital Applications as required by the team /other depts
  • To support the Digital Applications Manager with Digital Projects, e.g. Digital Transformation
  • Adding events and news articles to the SU website
  • Adding new pages, and updating existing content on the SU website
  • To create HTML email templates as required.
  • Disseminating paid-for digital promotions on behalf of the Business Development Manager, including emails to students, web banners, uploading to digital screens, and social media posts.
  • To support with responding to general enquiries and troubleshooting.
  • To manage workload and prioritise activity in line with demands and in agreement with line manager
  • Attending regular team meetings and 1-2-1s with your line manager
  • To undertake all administrative work in relation to the role as necessary, for example: Weekly and monthly updates, updating project status report
  • To complete additional tasks as required as part of the Communications & Marketing Department and any other duties that may from time to time be reasonably required by your line manager.
  • To commit to reducing the SU’s environmental impact and promote environmental and ethical good practice.
  • The above to be conducted with regard to the organisations’ policies and practice on Equal-Opportunities, Health & Safety, Customer Care, Copyright, Data Protection, Environmental Policy and other legislation, and Staff Development.
