PA to Chief Officers

Are you an experienced Personal Assistant?  

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Personal Assistant based at our Headquarters in Birkenshaw.

We are one of the country’s leading fire and rescue services, rated as good by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate.  

The overall purpose of the role is to work collaboratively as a key member of the PA Team to ensure that Chief Officers are provided with a confidential, effective, and efficient support service.  

As Personal Assistant to the Chief Officers, you will have excellent organisational and communication skills, your diary management skills will ensure key deadlines are met and responsibilities are fulfilled efficiently. You will receive and screen all incoming communications and deal with outgoing communications, including the drafting of responses, where appropriate.  

Having previous experience of working as a Personal Assistant, together with a proactive approach in supporting senior leadership; logical thinking; excellent problem solving and written, and verbal communication skills are essential for this varied and demanding role.  

You will work well in a team, be proactive and take responsibility for all areas of administrative support, including attending and taking accurate minutes of meetings, arranging travel and hotel requirements, itineries for conferences and support for events, and would be expected to provide cover for other PAs as required.  

You will be numerate and literate, have excellent keyboard and typing skills (RSA/OCR stage III, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent) and have excellent knowledge and application of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and IT Skills.  Audio skills and a qualification in shorthand would be an advantage. You will be required to work on your own initiative and work flexibly in relation to the needs of the post.  

A requirement to develop good working relationships with key staff in other departments and external organisations, including the other emergency services, Government ministers, Members of Parliament, civic dignitaries, and elected members. You will also gain an understanding of national, regional and local initiatives and developments that impact on the WYFRS Corporate Plan and strategic priorities.
