Procurement Officer

A great opportunity for an aspiring procurement professional is waiting for you at West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service within the busy Procurement Team.

You will support West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service colleagues and teams to ensure compliant procurement projects are efficiently and compliantly delivered.

Job Purpose: The post holder will manage the end-to-end procurement requirements for Professional Services, Transport and Logistics, Corporate Communications and Operational Equipment and Clothing.

Key Responsibilities: You will focus on managing the procurement process for a variety of goods and services required by the above mentioned categories to deliver capital and revenue procurement projects from start to finish.

Essential requirements:

  • You will be able to evidence demonstrable relevant procurement skills and knowledge with strong stakeholder management experience in a large organisation.
  • You must hold GCSE Grade ‘C’ Maths or an equivalent level 2 numeracy qualification or be able to demonstrate an equivalent level of numeracy gained through life experience.
  • Good English (written & verbal skills) are essential alongside experience of working with Information Technology applications at an advanced user level – e.g. Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Teams.
  • You will have an understanding of standards, policies and the legislative framework relevant to public sector procurement, demonstrating commitment to good data quality, a high standard of attention to detail and demonstrable workplace experience in planning and prioritising workload and output, operating independently and as a team player working to tight deadlines.
  • You will also have the ability to manage multiple procurement projects supporting internal stakeholders efficiently and effectively, promoting excellent customer support and service.
  • If not qualified to or working towards CIPS Level 4 or above, you will be expected to undertake the CIPS Level 4 qualification training.

We offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid working. Whilst you will be required to work from our offices for parts of your initial training, after this you’ll work both in the office and from home as part of our ‘hybrid’ working model. Therefore, applicants must have a reliable home internet connection.

The post is subject to a Standard Disclosure and Barring Service Check. Possession of a current valid driving licence is desirable.
