Housing Trainee

We’re looking for a Housing Trainee to join our Housing Services team in Barrow.

About the role and person:

  • 26 hours per week over 4 to 5 days
  • 2-year Fixed term contract

Always motivated to achieve brilliant standards of service, our Housing Partners are the first point of contact for our customers. As a Housing Trainee, you’ll shadow our Housing Partners ensuring the effective management and maintenance of tenancies whist working towards a vocational qualification in Housing. This involves working closely with the allocations and lettings team to onboard new tenants, working with customers to set up payment plans if they fall into arrears, managing anti-social behaviour and resolving customer complaints effectively. You’ll develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners and build strong community bonds to make moments that matter every day.

Salary

The spot salary for this post is £17,325 per annum (FTE £23,323 per annum) for applicants who fully meet the requirements of the post. Applicants, who do not meet all the requirements of the post, will start 5% or 10% below the spot salary.

You’ll also receive an additional £1,250 essential car user allowance.

What skills/behaviours do you need to be a Housing Trainee?

  • Experience of delivering good customer service and/or dealing with members of the public.
  • Experience with IT applications including Microsoft Office and the ability to pick up bespoke IT applications.
  • Can do attitude and a willingness to learn.
  • Good organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Resilience and ability to deal with change.
  • Team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Numeracy and written skills.
  • Flexible approach to work.
  • Driving License & willingness to travel.

This role is subject to a successful DBS check.

Interviews: 

1st stage telephone/teams interviews will take place on 9th October.

2nd stage interviews will take place on the 14th October via Teams.

Location

The successful candidate will be required to live within a commutable distance to our Barrow office and will be required to travel around Barrow to meet customers with monthly travel to our Burnley office for team meetings.

We’re a keen promoter of agile working and encourage working from home, as long as we meet our customers’ needs.

We’ll provide you with the equipment and software you’ll need for the purpose of your role however it will be your responsibility to have an appropriate space to work from as well as a suitable broadband connection/provider.
