Description Text: More about this vacancy... We asked the Team Leader to tell us more about this role and the amazing person that we need to work here. Where is this vacancy based? This vacancy is based in Burnley. Who do you support? We support 4 gentlemen all of different ages ranging from 25-80 and have learning difficulties. A gentlemen we support requires moving & handling transfering from chair to bed etc, another gentlemen has severe epilepsy and complex needs, third gentlemen is elderly quite independent does require little support with personal care, fourth gentlemen is quite independent in a lot of areas. 3 out of 4 gentlemen are at risk of choking/aspiration so require support with SALT guidelines. All 4 gentlemen require support with personal care 2 gents are doubly incontinent. All likes to go out everyday two people we support are non verbal. Where do they live? This is a 4 bedroom bungalow with 2 driveways enough to park 3 cars, at the rear of the property has a large garden lounge kitchen with small dining area a conservatort attached at the rear, 2 wetrooms What would a typical shift be like? At the start of a shift you'll provide support with personal care helping with showering shaving and dressing, administer medication prepare and make meals. We try and encourage the people we support to participate to promote independence. Each day are set activities ie lunch out, day centres, shopping and day trips out to places like Blackpool. In the afternoon each person supported will choose what they want to do from listening to music to watching tv to sitting in the garden, playing with sensory toys or building jigsaws. Cleaning tasks and other tasks will be undertaken throughout the shift. assist with meals, in the evening assist with personal care care shower provide supper watching tv. What activities do the people that we support at this property like to do? Swimming, cinema, listening to music, singing on karaoke, days out to the zoo or blackpool, Shopping and in house activities such as jigsaws arts and crafts. Local walks and drives out. Are there any skills or interests that a candidate could have that would be great to use to support this service? Drivers ideally due to mobility vehicles, someone that is good at cooking and baking, happy to support with swimming. What is the team here or is it lone-working? its a big team and a busy service, you will be mentored by manager and support staff wake shifts and sleeps shift are required. The only time you'll lone work is if your providing 1-1 support What are your shift patterns? 0800-2100 0900-2200 sleep Sleep shift 2200-0800 wake & watch 2000-0900 1200-1900 0800-1500 We hope it has given you more insight into this role and we hope to see your application soon.
