Arts Council England is the national development agency for creativity and culture. We invest public money to support arts, museums, libraries and creative organisations across England, helping more people in more places experience the benefits of creativity and culture.
We are looking for an organised, proactive and collaborative Assistant, Funded Organisations to join our Investment Centre. This is an important role at the heart of our funding work, supporting the teams who manage relationships with funded organisations and helping ensure that our investment is delivered effectively, accurately and with excellent service to colleagues and external partners.
As part of the Funded Organisations team, you will be a key point of contact for queries, coordinate information and processes, support meetings and briefings, maintain accurate records, and help manage administrative and financial tasks linked to our investment activity. You will work with colleagues across Arts Council England and with external stakeholders, so this is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships, keeping complex work on track and making a practical contribution to a busy national organisation.
You do not need to be an expert in arts funding to apply. We are looking for someone with strong administrative experience, excellent attention to detail, good communication skills and the ability to manage competing priorities. In return, you will join a supportive, collaborative organisation with a clear public purpose, a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, and a mission to make creativity and culture accessible to everyone.
Role Details: This is a varied and important administrative role supporting the delivery of Arts Council England’s investment in arts and cultural organisations. As Assistant, Funded Organisations, you will help the team stay organised, responsive and well-informed, providing practical support across a range of tasks including inbox coordination, meeting preparation, note taking, action tracking, information management, research, financial administration and maintaining accurate records.
You will often be a first point of contact for internal colleagues and external stakeholders, so you will need to be confident communicating clearly and professionally, both in writing and in conversation. The role involves working with colleagues across Arts Council England, supporting Senior Managers and contributing to the smooth running of team processes, so the ability to build positive working relationships and work collaboratively will be key.
We are looking for someone who is highly organised, accurate and able to manage a varied workload. You will need to be comfortable working with detail, using your initiative, prioritising competing demands and keeping tasks moving in a busy environment. Good administrative experience is essential, and experience or understanding of grant funding, arts and culture, or public sector processes would be helpful but is not essential.
This role would suit someone who enjoys being at the centre of a team, making sure information is clear, processes run smoothly and colleagues have the support they need to deliver their work effectively. You will also share Arts Council England’s commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, and understand the importance of ensuring that public investment in creativity and culture benefits a wide range of people and communities.
Equality Diversity and Inclusion Statement: Arts Council are committed to being an inclusive employer, building an inclusive workplace, and recruiting a workforce that is as diverse as the communities we serve. However, you identify, and whatever background you bring with you, we welcome you to apply for a role at Arts Council.
