Salary: £33,643 per annum plus benefits including a final salary pension scheme, generous annual leave, and flexible and hybrid working.

Introduction: The Museums and Cultural Property team at Arts Council England delivers a diverse portfolio of services, all united by a shared purpose: to protect, champion, and bring greater public visibility to some of the UK’s most valued cultural assets. What truly sets us apart is how we work as an organisation. Our values - We Learn, We Care, We Are Ambitious - are not just words, they shape everything we do. We invest in developing the services so that they meet user’s needs in a constantly changing and fast-paced environment.

You will be part of a team that is curious, collaborative, and driven to make a difference. The work you do will help ensure art, scientific and historic objects and collections can be shared, experienced, and enjoyed by communities now and for generations to come.

Role Details: Your focus will be Government Indemnity - which works similarly to insurance – and enables museums to borrow outstanding works of art and history to share them with their visitors.

With a sound understanding of risks to cultural items, you will process applications acting on data and expert advice, and issue indemnities. Effective communication is central to this. You will liaise with museums, galleries, and other partners, responding to enquiries, providing guidance, and supporting applicants with consistency, clarity and confidence. Your attention to detail and ability to manage complex information will be essential in maintaining the confidence of lenders, borrowers and Government.

You will be joining us at an exciting time, as we redesign the indemnity service. Working closely with the sector to testing and implement a new system, you will help shape its future operation.

No two days are the same. We are looking for someone who is adaptable, proactive, and solutions-focused, someone who can manage competing priorities and step in to support colleagues during busy periods. This includes support the work of the wider Museums and Cultural Property team, such as security reviews for loans.
