Post Exchange Assistant (Residential Conveyancing) - Norwich or Bury St Edmunds

The Role

We are looking for Post Exchange Assistant to join our Residential Property team to assist us in the delivery of residential property legal services to our clients. 

Roles and Responsibilities

As a Post Exchange Assistant in our team, your main duties will be:

  • Preparing the memorandum of exchange and all post exchange correspondence
  • Completion of all Stamp Duty Land Tax returns
  • Preparing Certificates of Title for submission to lenders
  • Preparing Help to Buy submission to the relevant provider and preparing relevant paperwork
  • Preparing completion statements
  • Updating Help to Buy following completion with regards to completed documents and registration
  • Updating the LMS and relevant portals with all post completion tasks
  • Reviewing of files to ensure Stamp Duty and Registrations were submitted
  • Responding to clients, solicitors and agents enquiries by telephone, email or post
  • Liaising with lenders and various service providers to achieve progression on matters
  • Ordering searches and conducting appropriate Land Registry searches
  • Preparing completion statements and apportionments on leasehold properties
  • Arranging payments to Management Companies etc
  • Conduct meetings and interviews with clients
  • Assess legal issues and advise accordingly
  • Draft documents and letters
  • If required, assist Partners within the Property Team based in other offices
  • Assist in the development of long term client relationships
  • Attend business development activities on behalf of the team and on behalf of the firm
  • Pursue referral agreements with local and national Agents
  • Promote and cross sell the services of the firm with all external clients

Knowledge, skills and experience required

We would like you to have knowledge of Residential Property Conveyancing and it would be helpful if you have experience in Post Exchange work.  However, full training will be given.

  • ideally previous experience in residential conveyancing
  • have experience in a process driven environment
  • the ability to carry out legal research
  • be good at planning and prioritisation and able to meet deadlines
  • have a high level of attention to detail
  • have strong commercial awareness with strong internal and external client focus
  • well-developed interpersonal skills with keen enquiry skills with good follow up ability
  • excellent oral and written communication style with good drafting skills
  • strong negotiation skills
  • be able to work well on your own and accurately under pressure
  • have a flexible approach to work
  • have extensive Case Management/Peppermint experience, although training will be given
  • possess strong IT skills
  • a willingness to learn new skills
