Kitchen Manager

What we need in a nutshell

We are seeking a talented individual who understands that exceptional food and drink are at the heart of a memorable holiday experience. As a Kitchen Manager, you will have the unique opportunity to work with our established menu specifications while bringing your own creative flair to special events, from weddings to corporate functions.

This role is perfect for someone who thrives on leading a team, managing stocks, ensuring compliance, and maximizing efficiency through audits and yields—all while doing what you love most: cooking!

Who are we?

We’re shaking up the Great British holiday. At our amazing UK resorts we pull out all the stops and add the bells and whistles to give our guests the holiday of a lifetime. We’re a growing company and our vision is to have a footprint that spans the UK, with enough parks to take on the big players. What you’ll be doing

You will manage and inspire the kitchen team to produce brilliant meals to our high standards. This will include:

  • Lead the Culinary Process: Oversee and direct all food preparation, ensuring each dish is crafted to perfection and meets our high standards of quality before it reaches our guests.
  • Innovative Menu Creation: Use your creativity to design enticing menus for events ranging from weddings to corporate gatherings, tailored to suit the unique tastes and preferences of each client.
  • Optimize Kitchen Operations: Manage orders for equipment and ingredients, maintain stock levels, and minimize wastage through effective planning.
  • Quality Control and Problem-Solving: Quickly address and resolve any issues or defects to maintain the highest level of quality and guest satisfaction.
  • Team Leadership and Training: Lead, manage, and mentor kitchen team, fostering a positive and productive work environment. Oversee team performance to ensure efficiency and uphold standards.
  • Ensure Compliance: Ensure that all kitchen operations comply with current food hygiene regulations and licensing requirements.
  • Collaborative Environment: Encourage teamwork and respect among the kitchen staff, ensuring smooth operations and a positive atmosphere.

You will lead from the front, setting the standards for your team and motivating, coaching and supporting them to be outstanding.

One more thing…holidays happen at holiday times and eating and drinking goes on in into the night, so you’ll need to work your magic on bank holidays, evenings and weekends too.

Skills, experience and qualities you’ll need

Are you dynamic, determined and enthusiastic? Do you thrive on providing memorable guest experiences and want to be part of a great team? These are the essential qualities for our kitchen manager. You will also have:

  • Communication skills through listening to customers, engaging and building a rapport with your team
  • Experience of working under pressure including managing a workload at busy times
  • An ability to build a commercial awareness and the experience of working in a commercial environment as well as becoming the best you can in your area of expertise
  • Knowledge of working with regulations such as health & safety, auditing, and making sure that colleagues understand them
  • Great leadership skills and the ability to build a high performing team in order to control, develop and improve all aspects of the kitchen including: P&L, yields, people, standards, legal compliance, service and brand integrity
  • An NVQ and relevant food hygiene certificates.

It’s about your values too. We have a can-do, fun loving, people centred ethos here at Away Resorts, which is captured by our holiday heroes’ mantra of Attentive Amazing Lovers – if that’s fired up your curiosity, have a read about it here and decide if it describes you.
