What we need in a nutshell

We’re looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant to work as part of our central support office Finance Team, taking responsibility for a wide range of accounts processing and providing cover to the Finance Manager.

What you’ll be doing

In this important role, you will be based at our central support office in Hemel Hempstead, but you will be working closely with the teams at our six holiday parks. Your job will include:

  • Performing bank reconciliations, posting of receipts and card transaction reconciliations, allocate payments and investigate any queries;
  • Raising faster payments and cheques, processing refunds;
  • Process expense credit cards and petty cash claims;
  • Process float recs;
  • Processing CFE;
  • Assisting with the regular journal entries in the production of the management accounts;
  • Reconciling and auditing the refunds processed on park regularly, investigating any discrepancies;
  • Process sports booker income and deferred income;
  • Support the achievement of all financial deadlines and targets;
  • Various ad hoc finance projects and tasks;

We’re not your average holiday company. Our guests come to our UK resorts to experience a world away from the day-to-day and our job is to surprise and delight them at every turn. As part of the central support team, you will be providing the back-up that allows the magic to happen.

Skills, experience and qualities you’ll need

The ideal candidate will have experience within a varied accounts function, including cashbook, purchase and general ledger. They must be able to demonstrate flexibility in order to adapt to the changing needs of the business. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a small team, be prepared to ‘muck in’ where appropriate and also to take on tasks outside of their usual responsibilities.

  • Familiarity with accounts packages
  • IT literate & competent with Excel
  • Numerate and good attention to detail
  • Good communication skills

It’s about your values too. We have a can-do, fun-loving, people-centred ethos here at Away Resorts, which is captured by our holiday heroes’ mantra of Attentive Amazing Lovers - have a read about it here and decide if it describes you.
