What you’ll be doing

In this role you will be helping to motivate and inspire the kitchen team to produce consistently amazing meals, working alongside your colleagues and ensuring it’s all done within budget, safely and hygienically, and in an organised manner. This includes:

  • Supporting the Head Chef in overseeing all aspects of the Back of House (BOH) operation, ensuring guests receive an exceptional level of service and delicious meals, freshly cooked
  • Leading key shifts and managing the day-to-day BOH operation, ensuring dishes comply to agreed specifications and that the Chefs de Partie, Commis Chefs & Kitchen Porters are properly deployed and working to the best of their ability
  • Supporting the Head Chef in recruiting, managing and inspiring the kitchen team
  • Controlling food margins through effective stock management
  • Championing and implementing Health and Safety and Hygiene policies to ensure team and guest safety
  • Liaising between the restaurant, and conference & banqueting personnel to ensure events run seamlessly
  • Standing in for the Head Chef in their absence to lead daily briefings, manage the kitchen, prepare rotas, forecast wages and check and complete the Time and attendance system to ensuring that staffing levels are correct and within budget

Skills, experience and qualities you’ll need

We are looking for someone who isn’t afraid of hard work, has a positive energy, and is a great team player who will support their colleagues. If that sounds like you and you can match the skills, experience and qualities listed below, we’d love to hear from you:

  • At least Level Two Hygiene Certificate, ideally Level 3
  • Experience of leading a team in a fast-paced and busy kitchen
  • Exceptional communication and organisational skills
  • A real passion for food, and a customer service ethos
  • Resilience under pressure

It’s the icing on the cake if you have worked in a busy kitchen on a holiday park and you have experience of coaching and developing the individuals within a team.
