Catering Assistant

Brendoncare is a charity which provides a range of connected services for people in later life including care homes, extra care housing, community support services and clubs across the South of England.

We are people-driven, focusing on empowerment, inclusivity and understanding. We aim to ensure that whoever comes into the Brendoncare environment - whether as a member, resident, volunteer or colleague – they are able to live their life to the fullest potential.

Our values reflect who we are – together we are kind, positive, brave and empowering. We need people who really want to make a difference to the lives of people in later life to join us.

In return, we will support you to grow and flourish as you are welcomed to the Brendoncare team.

Everyone loves good food and good company; in this role you get to provide both. Food is central to the happiness and well-being of the people that live in our services. This role is more than just serving meals and refreshments to residents and their visitors and supporting the catering team - it’s about making someone’s day.

You will have a natural affinity with older people and be keen to assist residents with meal choices, supporting the catering team in making each meal an event. Your enthusiasm will be infectious and residents will look forward to your visits as much as they do the refreshments that you bring them.

What will I be doing?

As a Catering Assistant, your main duties will be:

  • Working as part of a team to serve drinks and refreshments to residents, guests and visitors and clearing tables and cleaning them before they are used again;
  • Undertaking general kitchen duties including basic food preparation, washing up, and cleaning in order to support the needs of the catering team;
  • Ensuring that food is stored in the correct environment and at the correct temperature, rotating stocks as required and to comply with “use by” and “best before” dates.
