We are looking for a Chef to join us on a zero hours contract to work closely with the Catering Manager and Catering team, providing a range of high standard catering services to our residents, staff and visitors. Otterbourne Hill is Located between Chandlers Ford and Winchester, Brendoncare Otterbourne Hill is a vibrant care home providing personalised nursing and dementia care to couples and individuals. It also has a community hub where residents and local people can enjoy a range of facilities, activities and social opportunities.

What will I be doing?

The role includes:

  • Meal prep
  • Preparing nutritious meals for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks appropriate for individual needs including consistency levels for swallowing
  • Deputising in the absence of the Chef Manager
  • Cooking for approximately 80+ people per day
  • Catering for staff meals, and additional catering requirements for guests, visitors and relatives of residents
  • Stock rotation
  • Maintaining kitchen cleanliness
  • Ensure COSHH standards are exceeded
  • HACCP record completion

Essential requirements to apply:

  • Level 2 Food Safety Qualification 
  • Commercial cooking experience
  • Competent in IT software including Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety, Food Safety and Hygiene, HACCP and COSHH legislation and its application
  • Priority will be given to applicants with experience of working in a Care Home setting or experience of catering for older/vulnerable adults with an understanding of their dietary and nutritional needs

As a Chef, your key responsibilities would be:      

  • Preparing and cooking meals which consist of, but are not limited to breakfast, lunch, supper and mid meal snacks;
  • Ensuring that resident’s dietary requirements are met;
  • Supporting the Catering Manager to cater for special events;
  • Undertaking general catering assistant duties including washing up, serving and cleaning;
  • Ensuring adherence to relevant legislation and policies and procedures.

 

What is Brendoncare Otterbourne Hill like?

Brendoncare Otterbourne Hill is a modern care home in Hampshire, nestled in the village of Otterbourne. The residential home provides both dementia and nursing care for up to 64 residents in a family-like environment, filled with opportunities for friendship and a sense of community.

For a home-from-home feel, Otterbourne Hill is divided into smaller households of 16 bedrooms. Our experience over the last 35 years has shown that these smaller households create a lovely family-like atmosphere. At Otterbourne Hill, each household includes a selection of communal areas and facilities where you can socialise with other residents. There are also other spaces for quieter occupations and tranquillity.

The layout of the households has been specifically designed to help people find their way around easily. Outside, the gardens and terraces are a real feature.
