About the Role

As an EAL Onsite Engineer, you’ll be the go-to expert for at least one of our flagship customers, ensuring their network environment runs smoothly. Based onsite in Edinburgh, you’ll provide hands-on technical support, working directly with key stakeholders while staying connected with the CAE Network Operations Centre (NOC). Your role will be pivotal in upholding best practices, driving efficiency, and delivering outstanding service.

What You’ll Be Doing

Technical Responsibilities

  • Manage and resolve technical issues efficiently, ensuring accurate and timely updates on ITSM platforms throughout the ticket lifecycle.

  • Adhere to CAE’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for incident, problem, event, service, and change request management.

  • Continuously develop your professional and technical expertise through training and certifications.

  • Contribute to the enhancement of internal systems and processes, optimizing operational support.

  • Take part in an on-call rota to provide escalated support beyond Level 1/2 NOC.

  • Stay committed to deepening your knowledge of network operations and security technologies.

What We’re Looking For

To excel in this role, you’ll need to be highly organised, adaptable, and confident in your communication skills. You should be comfortable handling multiple tasks simultaneously and collaborating with different teams across the business.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Strong experience with Cisco Routers and Switching configuration and troubleshooting (CCNP Certification preferred or equivalent industry experience).

  • Working knowledge of Cisco ISE platform.

  • Hands-on expertise in Cisco Security configuration and troubleshooting (CCNA Security preferred or equivalent industry experience).

  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting Firewalls.

  • Passion for technology and a keen eye for detail.

  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable Skills:

  • Cisco Wireless configuration and troubleshooting (CCNA Wireless preferred).

  • Cisco Collaboration (Voice) configuration and troubleshooting (CCNA Voice preferred).

  • Exposure to Palo Alto technologies, switching, security, and wireless solutions.

  • ITIL/Change Management process experience.

  • Advanced security certifications such as CCNP Security or PCNSE.
