CAFOD and Trócaire in Partnership (CTP)
Since 1st April 2015, CAFOD and Trócaire have been working in Partnership in South Sudan as CTP, operating under a lead agency model, led by CAFOD, with a governance body from both agencies. We are doing this because we believe that by sharing resources and reducing our operating costs we will be able to enhance the impact and cost efficiency of our work; we will be able to spend more money on the communities we serve in South Sudan; we will be more responsive to our partners; it will be easier for our partners to engage with us as one agency in South Sudan, with reduced reporting; and as a partnership we will attract more funding and will be stronger at influencing key actors. CTP has four integrated programme areas: Emergency Preparedness and Response, Sustainable Livelihoods, Protection and Empowerment of Women and Girls and Governance and Peace-Building. CTP is also committed to strengthening the capacity of partners.
CAFOD is the official Catholic aid agency for England and Wales. CAFOD works with partners in over 30 countries across the world to bring hope, compassion and solidarity to poor communities, standing side by side with them to end poverty and injustice. CAFOD works with people of all faiths and none, with more than 300 partners overseas, and with partners in the UK - all working to tackle the causes of injustice and poverty. Inspired by Catholic Social Teaching and the experiences and hopes of people living in poverty, CAFOD works for a safe, sustainable and peaceful world.
Trócaire is the official overseas development agency of the Catholic Church in Ireland. Trócaire was set up in 1973 by the Bishops of Ireland to express the concern of the Irish Catholic Church for the suffering of the world’s poorest people. We work with communities in the developing world to deliver long-term positive change to people’s lives. Established in 1973, today Trócaire works in over 20 countries on issues including livelihoods, human rights, gender equality, HIV, climate change and emergency relief. In Ireland, we raise awareness about the causes of poverty through our outreach programmes in the education sector, through parish networks, and through our public campaigns and advocacy work.
CAFOD and Trócaire's international work aims to have a lasting impact on poverty and injustice through development and humanitarian programmes. The organisations promote learning, empower communities and people in need regardless of their race, gender, religion or politics, and build links between CAFOD and Trócaire supporters and partners overseas.
