We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Care Governance Officer to join our Care Governance Team and play a key role in maintaining and improving the quality of our services across the Lothians.

About the Role
As a Care Governance Officer, you will work closely with operational teams, carers, service users and healthcare professionals to support excellence in care delivery. You will help ensure that care plans, assessments and governance processes meet the highest standards while promoting a positive culture of learning and development.
The role will involve regular travel across East, Mid and West Lothian services.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct care audits, reviews and governance activities.
- Support the development and improvement of care planning documentation.
- Undertake client assessments, reviews and care plan updates.
- Perform field-based observations and competency assessments of care staff.
- Complete spot checks and provide constructive feedback to carers and supervisors.
- Support investigations relating to incidents, complaints and service improvements.
- Assist in the implementation of risk assessments and safe working practices.
- Work collaboratively with Registered Managers and operational teams to drive quality improvements.
- Promote a culture of openness, continuous learning and person-centred care.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements and GDPR.

About You
We're looking for someone who has a strong understanding of care quality standards and a genuine passion for improving outcomes for people who use our services.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 12 months' experience within the health and social care sector.
- Experience in a Quality Officer, Senior Carer, Supervisor or similar role.
- Knowledge and understanding of care governance principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.
- Eligible for or willing to apply for SSSC Supervisor Registration.
- Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
