Candidate Selections Coordinator

The Conservative Party is seeking to appoint an organised and proactive Selection Coordinator to join the Candidates Team. This is a varied role supporting the administration and coordination of candidate selection processes, working closely with candidates, senior Party staff and senior volunteers. The successful candidate will combine excellent attention to detail with strong administrative skills and a professional, responsive approach.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a key point of contact for candidates throughout the selection process, providing a professional, responsive service and ensuring a positive candidate experience.
  • Coordinate the administration of candidate selection processes from application through to assessment and selection, ensuring activity is well organised and delivered to agreed timescales.
  • Manage candidate applications and associated records, ensuring information is accurate, complete and handled appropriately.
  • Liaise with candidates, assessors and colleagues to coordinate interviews, assessments, meetings and other selection activity.
  • Support the onboarding and administration of assessors, including maintaining the master assessor database and organising webinars and 1-2-1s.
  • Produce and maintain selection reports, briefings, activity logs and other relevant management information.
  • Monitor candidate and selection activity, identifying outstanding actions and ensuring appropriate follow-up.
  • Support the administration and continuous improvement of selection processes, systems and candidate communications.
  • Manage relevant candidate inboxes and queries, ensuring enquiries are responded to or directed appropriately.
  • Assist with candidate call centre organisation and delivery when required.
  • Support the Candidates Team with a variety of projects and wider departmental priorities.
  • Provide high-quality general administrative support across the department, including preparing briefing documents, arranging meetings, maintaining records and coordinating correspondence.
  • Provide diary management and meeting support for the Head of Candidates and Chairman of the Candidates Committee
  • Assist with reports, presentations, briefings and other departmental documentation as required.
  • Maintain accurate databases, trackers, records and filing systems.
  • Coordinate meetings, including scheduling, preparing papers and following up actions where required.
  • Provide flexible administrative support to the wider team and assist with projects and events as required.
  • Undertake other reasonable administrative duties to support the effective running of the department.

Your Professional Experience:

  • Strong organisational, coordination and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience of coordinating processes, projects, recruitment or selection activity would be advantageous.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records.
  • An ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and sensitivity.
  • Confidence in verbal and written communication, alongside strong interpersonal skills.
  • A professional, personable and helpful approach when dealing with candidates and stakeholders.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team while also working autonomously and taking ownership of tasks.
  • Enthusiastic, keen to learn and flexible in approach.
  • Able to prioritise effectively, take ownership of tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Conservative Party.
  • Good IT skills, including effective use of Microsoft Office software and confidence working with databases and online systems.
  • Resilient and able to remain calm under pressure, particularly during busy selection periods and events.
  • Positive, proactive and self-motivated.
