PAYROLL OPERATIONS TEAM LEADER (FIXED-TERM) | £35,000 per annum

Hybrid role with 2 days in the office and 3 days home-working

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Payroll team as Payroll Operations Team Leader on a fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave until the beginning of July 2026.

In this role, you will support the Payroll Operations Delivery Lead in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for 6 villages, whilst maintaining compliance with internal controls and external regulations.

Working with the Payroll Operations Delivery Lead, you will manage,  coach, mentor and upskill the Payroll team, helping to nurture a positive, inclusive and transparent working environment.

The successful candidate will have experience in payroll operations, ideally within a multi-site or complex environment.  A good working knowledge of UK payroll legislation and compliance is required, along with excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.  A collaborative mindset with a passion for team development and continuous improvement is also required.

HOURS OF WORK

This is a fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave until the beginning of July 2026.

You will be contracted to work 150 hours per 4-week period on a flexible basis.  Normal working hours are 9am to 5pm Monday – Friday and you will be required to work 1 Saturday in 4, with a rest day taken to compensate within the period.

You may also be required to work some bank holidays.

Please note, this role will be hybrid with a mixture of 2 days in the office and 3 days home-working.  The office days will usually be on a Monday and Tuesday, but please note that this may occasionally change according to business need.

ABOUT YOU

Essential requirements:

  • Good knowledge of UK payroll legislation
  • In-depth ResourceLink or similar payroll system knowledge
  • GCSE in Maths and English grade C or equivalent
  • Previous experience in working in a payroll department and supervising a team
  • Previous experience in data entry/processing
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Good team player
  • Excellent communication skills

Desirable requirements:

  • CIPP’s Payroll Practitioner Certificate
  • Knowledge of Irish payroll legislation
  • Experience of Dayforce WFM and Payroll
