About the role

Join our vibrant Writing department, home to over fifty dedicated writing professionals, where you will play a key role in supporting talented writers on our flagship creative writing course. The role is fixed-term from 30th September 2026 – 30 June 2027th, with weekly in‑person classes every Wednesday, 17:30 – 19:30 (66 hours total teaching time).

City Lit is London’s leading provider of adult education, welcoming over 30,000 students each year and offering more than 5,000 courses. Renowned for delivering an exceptional student experience, we are now seeking an experienced and inspiring tutor to lead our Masterclass: Fiction Writing Workshop across all three terms.  The course is designed for advanced and/or professional writers and limited to ten learners, admitted by application only.

About the applicant

We welcome applications from published writers with substantial experience teaching fiction workshops for adults and a keen interest in contemporary writing debates and trends.  To be considered, please submit your CV and a covering letter, detailing your skills and experience. The ideal candidate will:

  • Proven experience teaching and facilitating advanced-level fiction workshops for adults.
  • A strong publication record in fiction.
  • A passion for fiction and awareness of current conversations in contemporary writing.
  • A qualification relevant to literature and/or creative writing (desirable).
  • A teaching qualification (desirable).
