What’s in the role and what are we looking for?

We are recruiting for a Garment Technologist to join our Technology team. You will work with our both men’s and ladies’ products to ensure that all products produced for Cotton Traders accurately matches our Company specification in terms of sizing, quality and performance and provide a consistent quality and fit to our customer base.

You will have bundles of passion and energy to work within our Garment Technology department to contribute to successfully driving our ranges.

Some of the key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the day-to-day running of the department
  • Creating fully graded size specifications and garment sketches of products including key details
  • Manage the intake of samples and prepare samples for the fit meetings
  • Fitting on live models with the Buyers, providing concise fit and quality amendment comments to the suppliers
  • Fitting will be on both male and female models.
  • Managing all products through the sealing process from initial fit to production and postproduction.
  • Specifying care label information and all packaging details
  • Instigating/analysing test reports with recommendations
  • Regular liaison with our Distribution Centre Quality Control team
  • Continually analysing returns information on products, especially by colour, making suggestions for improvements to fit, quality.
  • Supporting Customer Services and Stores with any technical queries 

The Successful Candidate will: 

  • Work experience in the industry and at least three to five years’ experience within a Garment Technology role
  • Experience working with pattern cutting would be an advantage on both men’s and ladies blocks.
  • Enthusiasm and determination, with a passion for Garment Technology
  • Team spirit and a positive attitude
  • Confidence in communicating, in order to maintain a strong working relationship with all departments and suppliers
  • Strong MS Office Excel skills
  • A Self-Starter approach to the role with the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
  • Attention to detail
  • Coral Draw/Adobe illustrator skills (desirable but not essential)
