Responsibilities

  • Managing and undertaking statutory audits and being involved in all stages of the audit process from planning to completion within the agreed budget.
  • Manage on-site teams and assist in the supervision and development of more junior staff, providing training where appropriate and ensuring work is appropriately allocated according to the team members abilities and development complete job review forms for all junior staff on the same assignment.
  • Support the project management of the audit and monitor and implement improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness without compromising quality.
  • To research technical issues that arise and provide potential solutions for review by partners / directors.
  • Identify where consultation is required and lead discussions with technical support, the client, the team and other specialists and provide a potential solution to enable appropriate evaluation and review.
  • To adhere to deadlines, including prompt notification to the partner where problems are likely to arise or as they arise on each assignment.
  • Preparation and presentation of reports to senior management and Audit Committees/Boards.
  • Act as client relationship manager on a portfolio of clients and builds effective relationships with key contacts at clients.
  • Demonstrate the importance of meeting clients’ needs and takes responsibility for ensuring the delivery of high-quality work that exceeds clients’ expectations.
  • Identify where other experts in the firm can provide relevant services to respond to client business needs – taking the initiative in making relevant introductions as necessary.
  • Play a leading role in ensuring that there is a continuous improvement ethos for the team and work is allocated fairly.
  • Manage work in progress and billing on client assignments.
  • Be proactive in Business Development activities and grow, maintain and monitor your own network.
  • Undertake additional duties as reasonably required.

Technical skills, experience & knowledge:

  • Strong technical knowledge of auditing and accounting standards.
  • Able to provide practical, proactive business advice for clients, while referring more significant or challenging control issues to the partner.
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of business cycle controls, recognising the audit risks and business implications where controls are absent, ineffective, or inefficient.
  • Experience in working with complex and international groups, reporting structures and liaising with component auditors is highly desirable.
  • Experience of working with small and medium-sized listed entities is also highly desirable.

Required Qualifications:

  • CCAB body membership, eg ICAEW, ACCA, ICAS, Chartered Accountants Ireland or CIPFA.
  • Ensure adequate CPD is undertaken in relevant disciplines/client sectors.
