An exciting opportunity has arisen at Derby College Group (DCG) for a Youth Worker to join our amazing STEPS department. This role will be based at our iconic Roundhouse Campus. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in supporting the personal, educational, creative, and social development of young people, helping them to build confidence and reach their full potential.

 

The Opportunity

You'll contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where students are empowered to thrive both academically and personally. A vital aspect of this role involves conducting home visits to strengthen family engagement and improve student attendance, ensuring that every young person has the support they need to succeed.

About you

You are an organised, proactive, and empathetic professional with a passion for supporting young people to reach their full potential. With strong communication skills and experience in education, youth work, or mentoring, you’re confident in building trust with students—especially those who may be disengaged or lack confidence. You have a solid understanding of safeguarding, professional boundaries, and behaviour management strategies. Open to new ideas and reflective practice, you thrive in supportive, collaborative environments and are comfortable engaging with families and external partners. You hold the required NYA-validated BA (Hons) in Youth Work, along with Level 2 qualifications in English, Maths, and IT.
