Derby College Group (DCG) are recruiting for a Data Engineer join our reporting team that sits within our MIS department. This role is based at our Ilkeston campus with opportunity for hybrid working. The Opportunity
This role offers an exciting opportunity to play a key part in shaping how data is used across the college, driving meaningful, data-informed decision making. As a Data Engineer, you will contribute to building a reliable “single source of truth,” ensuring data is accessible, consistent, and reusable across the organisation. Working collaboratively with Data Engineers, Analysts, and infrastructure specialists, you will be involved in designing and implementing scalable data models and robust data warehousing solutions that unlock valuable insights from complex datasets. This position allows you to apply and further develop your expertise in big data technologies and data modelling, and to make a tangible impact by enabling smarter, more efficient operations and strategic planning across DCG.

About you
You have a strong understanding of database design, dimensional modelling, and modern data engineering principles. You have experience working with tools such as Microsoft SQL Server or MS Fabric, are confident writing SQL queries, and understand the full data lifecycle from collection to modelling. Comfortable working in agile environments, you are a proactive problem-solver who can analyse complex datasets and communicate insights clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. With an awareness of data governance and regulations such as GDPR, you are motivated to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions that support data-driven decision making.
