Credit Risk Analyst

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen in our Normanton offices for a Credit Risk Analyst to join our ECommerce department, taking responsibility for the smooth and accurate performance of all credit risk, debt recovery, litigation and related reporting activity ensuring timely and accurate decision making across the Group.


In support of online retail trade duties will include:

  • New account ID fraud checks
  • New account credit checks
  • Proactive and professional liaison with prospects, customers and sales colleagues
  • Credit limit reviews for existing customers that no longer have credit headroom (to incl. manual order release of held orders where credit can be increased)
  • Completion, review and processing of credit application forms
  • Facilitation of ERP account opening activity
  • Amendment of ERP account details following receipt of properly completed and approved change information; i.e. company name, trading address, contact information etc…
  • Monitor and react appropriately to the daily credit agency monitoring flags
  • Proactive and professional liaison with prospects, customers and sales colleagues
  • Maintenance of customer register data
  • Upload of customer data into credit agency systems
  • Extraction of appropriate credit agency data in support of internal credit review and credit decision activity

In support of debt recovery and litigation duties will include:

  • Referral of debts to third party partners following the failure of in-house collection efforts
  • Proactive and professional liaison with credit and sales colleagues, third party partners and debtors
  • Tracking and reporting of payments, costs and overall recovery rates to management
  • Processing of properly approved bad debt write offs for debt deemed irrecoverable
  • Reporting of bad debt write off values and provisions
  • Accurately maintain the “black list” of individuals associated with bad debt that the company does not wish to trade with in future

The successful candidate will also facilitate the acceptance, payment and release of staff sales.


  • Experience of managing credit risk, ideally within an online arena, is highly desirable
  • A good communicator, able to demonstrate clarity and confidence, both verbally and in writing
  • An analytical individual, able to (with appropriate support and training) make objective judgements based upon financial and non-financial information, and comfortable to seek out new and additional information in order to answer key questions
  • Strong organisation skills, with the ability to ensure that tasks are appropriately prioritised and completed with sufficient care and in a timely fashion
  • Accuracy and the ability to consistently demonstrate an appropriate amount of care is taken to ensure that information is correct, valid and thorough
  • A team player, always supportive of others prioritising team performance over personal performance
  • A positive can-do attitude, self-motivated and hardworking problem solver
  • A willingness to learn, formally and informally, and be happy to challenge and be challenged
  • A confident Excel user, ideally to an intermediate level (common formula’s and pivot tables), would be highly beneficial
