Merchandise Co-ordinator (Fixed Term Contract)

This position is responsible for working in conjunction with the Category Team to ensure key business essentials are delivered to help drive group sales, utilising experience, vendor information & all business tools to assist in increasing company sales and profit

The role will involve:

  • Engagement with each internal departments/suppliers to support the Product Managers in building Category Management Plans.
  • Assist in developing sales & profit in identified product sectors in accordance with the Category Plan.
  • Supporting the Product Manager with assessing potential new products and new suppliers taking into consideration the suitability of the supplier, financial stability, ability to supply to Group demand and market position of the company.
  • Build relationships and rapport with key personnel, interfacing at different levels with key supplier contacts. Have an active role in discussions on range, terms and other aspects of the supplier relationship.
  • Actively analyse internal data/supplier data to identify products which are under performing and propose actions to improve performance or manage out of the business. Liaise and communicate with all internal departments on actions.
  • Plays a key role in the pagination & building of catalogues/direct mail pieces ensuring all pages are completed within given timescales dictated by production schedules,  assists with pricing of the publications’ and  ensures that all page are checked and approved by the necessary contacts
  • Ensure Electronic Product Creation Sheets relating to new products are obtained from suppliers, filled in accurately, and passed to relevant departments within the Group.
  • Meet with suppliers to establish special offers and promotional tools to maximise sales and profits. Liaise with marketing to utilise best method for taking the offer to market which will ensure maximum sales. Manages promotional stock to ensure sell through, stock transfer, or return to supplier.
  • Resolve supplier and product specific queries from internal and external sources.
  • Resourceful and tenacious, with a desire to develop new skills & committed to personal & team development

  • Good product and market knowledge, knows and understands their supplier’s business and business environment.
  • An understanding of the end to end sales process including promotions, pricing, demand planning, inventory management, finance and operations and how they relate to, and impact profitability.
  • Experienced in the use of Microsoft Office packages, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • A desire to develop new skills & committed to personal & team development.
