Credit Controller - Part time

EVO Group have a great opportunity for a part-time Cash Collector to join their Sheffield Head Office Contract and Framework team. Working 22.5 hours a week, across a minimum of 4 days, the successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance of an aged debt ledger to ensure that ageing is kept to a minimum and payments are made to terms by customers, therefore maximising company cash flow. The specific working days and hours will be discussed and agreed to suit both parties

They will be able to engage on a daily basis with customers, and required to be persistent, assertive but not aggressive to ensure payments are made to terms as well as working pro-actively and on own initiative prioritising cash collection activities for greatest effect and clearly demonstrating an understanding of their ledger at a customer level.

This role requires an individual who is comfortable with high volume work, with strong relationship building skills and proven organisational and prioritisation capabilities, Able to take ownership of their workload and make the required decisions to see stubborn balances resolved.


  • Maintain a clean ledger, minimise overdue debt; and maximise cash receipts on time
  • Regularly reconcile trading accounts to ensure that cash collection activity can be completed in a straight forward, time efficient and effective manner
  • Ensure payments are allocated to customers account to avoid unnecessary ageing
  • Prioritise collection activity on the ledger for greatest effect with a particularly focus on those invoices that are most aged
  • Meet cash targets set by line manager
  • Pro-actively develop customer, and colleague relationships to achieve the best results possible
  • Collect interim payments and withhold goods in order to limit unauthorised credit exposure and maximise cash flow
  • Customer visits and site visits as required and with the support of management
  • Help train and mentor new starters
  • Any other duties as and when required by management


  • An experienced cash collector, with specific experience of trade credit
  • Comfortable in Excel and Microsoft programmes in order to reconcile customer accounts and produce reporting data.
  • An ability to take care over detail and be thorough in the completion of tasks
  • Able to understand that each role within the team is a significant contribution towards a common goal
  • A capability to solve problems, escalate and be decisive
  • An ability to recognise where payment performance may require an account or credit review.
  • An ability to negotiate and agree alternative payment methods where needed
  • The ability to suggest changes to customer billing where the process seems to be affecting payment performance
  • The ability to use the information and facts available to them and acts on that information when appropriate.
  • The ability to own and escalate resolution of invoice queries.
  • Will see things through, seeks out help to get things done and asks for guidance and direction when it’s needed.
  • Tenacity and ownership when escalating issues preventing payments
