Senior HR Business Partner

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a commercially astute and proactive HR Professional to be a key part of our busy HR team who will be a trusted partner to the key stakeholders across all our locations in the UK. This role will own the people agenda for the relevant business area, while ensuring alignment with the broader HR strategy, people brand and EVP. This role will be based between home and either our Normanton, Sheffield or Bradford sites. Travel to other sites, including occasional travel to Scotland, NI & ROI will be required. Salary for this position is £35-45,000 depending on experience, plus package including car allowance.


  • Talent Management – actively involved in recruitment of mid-level and senior roles to attract top talent into the business. Supporting management with the recruitment process including creating a competency framework and interview matrix
  • Colleague Engagement – Proactively improving colleague engagement through effective colleague forums, surveys and activities
  • Benefits – Being involved in any benefit introduction or review to improve the overall EVP of the business
  • Colleague Development/Succession planning – Working internally/externally to identify talent in an organisation and ensure the training plans are in place to develop future leaders
  • Mentoring Programme – Leading a successful mentoring programme
  • Restructures/Acquisitions – Leading any restructures with key stakeholders and advise on HR procedures
  • Training needs – Working with managers to identify training gaps and developing a variety of approaches to address them including online training and apprenticeships
  • Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of employment law, reviewing and providing advice on necessary policy practices relating to disciplinary and grievance procedures, equal opportunities, redundancies etc.
  • Influencing and leading project teams delivering business strategies and initiatives.


The successful candidate must be an experienced HR Generalist, CIPD – Chartered or Fellow, with a strong commercial awareness.  You must have experience of influencing and delivering change, applying best practice HR within a fast-paced environment.

To succeed you will have:

  • Excellent communication skills - written and verbal, tailoring communication according to audience
  • Expertise in building and maintaining relationships
  • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills
  • Good IT skills – MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint essential
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing conflicting priorities and completing work to time-scales
  • The ability to deal with sensitive issues and confidential information
  • Drive and be results orientated
