Fair Ways is a leading children’s services charity, delivering Fostering, Education, Residential, Mental Health and Family services and cares for over 400 children, families, young people and vulnerable adults each year.

Where and when do we need you?
Fair Ways Outdoor Adventures are looking for zero hours activity instructors to join their motivated department of professional instructors delivering a wide range of activities to our amazing young people supported in our residential intervention centres. These sessions are delivered as part of their alternative education programme with all sessions also supported by trained therapeutic support workers. Our instructors are fully supported in their roles, having access to a fantastic range of well-maintained modern equipment. You would be working in South Wales form our Resolven Base covering a range of ad-hoc shifts.
Working as a zero hour instructor on our team you will be involved in a range of exciting and rewarding things like:
- Delivering the highest standards of outdoor activity instruction, including committing to engaging and developing young people with challenging behaviour resulting from complex needs.
- Working as part of a fantastic team and being part of internal and external training, team meetings and involved with the wider organisation.
- Contributing to the monitoring of good practice and ensuring safe working practices.
- Participating in the tasks involved in the running of the department, including checking / cleaning equipment, shaping policy, and undertaking risk assessments.
- Demonstrating good communication skills both verbal and written to ensure sessions are properly planned and recorded and that all required paperwork is undertaken to a high standard.
Successful candidates will be required to provide an enhanced Disclosure (DBS). This disclosure cost will be met by Fair Ways. DBS certificates registered with the update service would be advantageous when facilitating potential start dates.
Desirable…. but not Essential
Whilst we value the knowledge and understanding that experience and qualifications can bring, we also know that some of our best people have come to us from unrelated backgrounds. These people already held our core values at heart, and we have supported the rest!
Essential:
- Multiple National Governing Body qualifications (climbing, biking, walking, and paddling)
- Full UK driving Licence
Desirable:
- Knowledge of / experience working on crags/mountains/waterways in South Wales,
- Experience in the outdoor industry, or in educational settings.
- Experience planning events/ programmes and writing Risk Assessments.
