What are we looking for?  

Futures are recruiting for a Careers Adviser to deliver on the Local Skills Improvement Fund (LSIF) Project, a partnership with Nottingham college to recruit and support customers to access Green Skills training courses at Nottingham College based at their EMTEC campus in Ruddington, Nottingham.

The successful candidate will ideally have an IAG qualification at Level 4 (lower level IAG qualifications will be considered if willing to study to level 4). They will be a good communicator, highly organised and be able to work with a wide variety of customers. Partnership working with internal and external stakeholders is a key element of this role therefore the successful candidate will need to have excellent stakeholder management skills.

The post holder will be part of the Targeted Support Division but will work across all Futures teams (NCS, AEB, Restart) to identify customers who are interested in green skills training courses (L1.2. 3 and apprenticeships) which are being delivered at Nottingham College’s Green Skills Production Hub. The post holder will work closely with Nottingham College to enrol people on the courses and will support the customer to overcome any barriers that may prevent them starting or sustaining attendance on the course. This will be a very exciting role that provides an opportunity to support customers onto initiative new courses in the real growth area of green skills.

Roles & Responsibilities 

The post holder will:

  • Promote Green skills jobs and training across all Futures contracts and with external partners to identify customers who are interested in gaining training, qualifications, and employment in this sector.
  • Refer customers to Nottingham College Green skills hub and support customers to enrol on courses.
  • Raise aspirations, motivation, and self confidence through identifying and removing barriers.
  • Use communication and coaching tools to provide information, advice and guidance to customers on a one to one and group basis via digital and non digital methods in a variety of settings.
  • Actively participate in outreach work, attend careers fairs and promotional events.
  • Demonstrate resilience in working with some of the most vulnerable customers who face multiple complex barriers.
  • Deliver agreed individual targets relating to both volume and quality in line with contract compliance. Using good reports and databases to manage own caseload. Ensuring good time management and effective use of resources.
  • Maintain accurate records in a timely manner.
  • Engage in the quality process including collecting customer feedback.
  • Be required to work in various locations in line with business need.
  • Promote and uphold equal opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain own professional knowledge.
  • Comply with safeguarding and GDPR requirements in line with policy and legislation.
  • Undertake any other duties that may be reasonably regarded as within scope of the role.
