About the Role

  • Support the delivery of a clean, safe and welcoming residential environment for students, guests and visitors across campus accommodation.
  • Lead by example, providing day-to-day guidance, support and mentoring to a team of Residence Assistant Cleaners to ensure high standards of service are consistently achieved.
  • Oversee cleaning and presentation standards across designated halls of residence, ensuring bedrooms, communal areas and facilities are maintained to an excellent standard.
  • Carry out a variety of cleaning, accommodation preparation and housekeeping tasks, including room inspections, bed making, waste management and reporting maintenance issues.
  • Promote a positive health and safety culture by ensuring the safe use, maintenance and storage of cleaning equipment, materials and machinery.
  • Support the smooth operation of residential services by monitoring stock levels, assisting with team coordination and helping to identify opportunities for service improvement.
  • Play a key role in preparing student and guest accommodation throughout the year, including leading teams during peak periods, student arrivals and commercial accommodation changeovers.

 

About You

  • You will have experience working in a cleaning, facilities, hospitality, residential, educational or similar environment, with a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
  • You will have experience leading or supporting a small team, with the confidence to mentor colleagues, allocate tasks and help ensure quality standards are consistently achieved.
  • You will have a good understanding of health and safety requirements, including COSHH regulations, and be committed to promoting safe working practices at all times.
  • You will be confident using a range of cleaning equipment, materials and machinery safely and effectively, with knowledge of cleaning methods and industry best practice.
  • You will be an effective communicator, able to build positive working relationships and communicate professionally with colleagues, students, guests and visitors.
  • You will be able to work independently, use your initiative and remain organised, while also contributing positively as part of a team.
  • You will hold GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English and be willing to undertake relevant training and development, with an understanding of safeguarding and its importance within an educational environment.
