Shift Supervisor

Howdens are recruiting a Shift Supervisor to join the lamination line at our manufacturing site in Howden, East Yorkshire. This is an exciting opportunity that will contribute to our continued success and will enable us to deliver our forecasted growth and extend our service to our customers.

Reporting into an Operations Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that production targets are met with adherence to quality, cost, delivery, people and health and safety metrics. You will be responsible for identifying and rectifying short falls in performance, share learnings and work collaboratively with cross-shift teams to ensure continual improvements are made across our operations.

What you’ll be doing…

• Monitoring and evaluating the performance of your team members and providing feedback and effective training where required
• Checking service issues and planning daily production to ensure warehouse demand is satisfied
• Maintaining safety within your area of responsibility, complying with safety controls through effective auditing, reviewing SOPs and RAs and conducting accident / near miss investigations when necessary
• Analysing KPI and OEE data to identify productivity issues and helping to form solutions and maximise opportunities for improvement
• Liaising with the maintenance departments to reduce unplanned machine downtime
• Facilitating continuous improvement workshops

What we’re looking for…

• Experience working within a leadership role in a manufacturing environment
• A proven track record of implementing continuous improvement processes and working knowledge of lean manufacturing processes
• Experience managing KPI and quality control plans
• Experience of applying health and safety procedures within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Strong problem solving, influencing and change management skills

Shift pattern:

• Rotating days and nights Monday to Thursday
• Days (Monday to Wednesday 5:45 – 16:15, Thursday 5:45 – 15:45)
• Nights (Monday to Wednesday 16:00 – 2:30, Thursday 15:30 – 1:30)
