About the Role

Howdens is looking for a Technical Trainer to join our Learning & Development team and support the professional growth of our 11,000-strong workforce. You will play a pivotal role in equipping employees with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed, whether it’s mastering a new system, enhancing role-specific capabilities, or developing management expertise.

In this varied role, you’ll design and deliver engaging face-to-face and virtual training sessions, working closely with subject matter experts and business partners to ensure content is accurate, impactful, and aligned with our objectives.

You’ll also measure the effectiveness of your training programmes, using feedback and data to continuously refine and improve your approach.

What will you be doing as a Technical Trainer:

  • Deliver interactive and impactful training sessions in person and virtually, tailored to diverse audiences across the business.
  • Collaborate with HRBPs and subject matter experts (SMEs) to create accurate and relevant training materials.
  • Design evaluation tools to assess the effectiveness and ROI of training initiatives.
  • Stay informed on emerging technologies and adapt training content to reflect advancements.
  • Provide feedback to learners to support their development journey.
  • Work with project teams to understand new systems/processes, offering L&D expertise as needed.
  • Continuously review and update training content to ensure alignment with business goals and industry trends.

What do you need to qualify for the Technical Trainer:

  • Proven expertise in designing and delivering impactful technical training (virtual and in-person).
  • Skilled in evaluating data to identify trends and improve training outcomes.
  • Familiarity with trade, depot, or retail stock and systems (preferred).
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS) and modern learning practices.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts.
  • Strong organisational skills, proficient in Microsoft Office, and adept at creating effective training materials.
  • Enthusiastic and committed to continuous personal and team development.
