Waste Technician - Facilities Boiler Operator
We are recruiting a Waste Technician (Boiler Operator) to our Facilities team, based at Runcorn, Cheshire, on a permanent basis.
The purpose of this role is to ensure that all equipment, systems, buildings and infrastructure within Facilities are maintained in accordance with current HSE regulations and legislative standards including statutory inspections.
What you will be doing:
- To provide front line breakdown support for boiler systems, extraction systems and associated equipment
- Carry out maintenance schedules for assets under the care of the Site Engineering Department that supports the Site Maintenance objectives.
- To provide support for maintenance strategies and formal operational plans to achieve year on year improvements in plant performance and reduction in manufacturing costs
- Degree of flexibility with shift pattern to cover out of hours needs (weekends and evenings)
- Develop and maintain a good working knowledge of facilities plant production processes, equipment and systems
- Identify the causes of failures and repetitive repairs and seek solutions.
- Work in conjunction with other members of staff on technical and work matters in maintenance, central services, production, safety, stores and other engineering functions.
- Maintain equipment safety and environmental standards in line with statutory requirements and codes of practice
- Provide technical support to site shift teams in reactive maintenance situations
- Support refurbishment activities.
- Carry out strategic and critical spares analysis for boiler and extraction systems and associated equipment
- Develop and improve job methods, tools and work standards
What we are looking for:
- IOSH Managing Safely
- Working at height trained
- Full awareness of onsite Permit system
- At least 12 months experience in a boiler house or facilities role
- FLT license holder
- 5s trained
- Confident to talk through the key equipment in the boiler house
- Articulate
- Takes accountability, leads by example and builds positive working relationships
