Hiring Manager | Adam Waller

We are recruiting for an Engineering Planner to join our Engineering team in a days-based role, supporting three specialised "Make to Order" manufacturing sites. The primary focus of this position will be to develop, review, and enhance essential planning documentation—including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), risk assessments, and training materials.

This work is vital to improving the effectiveness, efficiency, and completion of our Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) programmes, ultimately driving greater asset reliability and operational uptime. The ideal candidate will bring a strong grasp of engineering processes, a sharp eye for detail, and a proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement.

What can we offer you as an Engineering Planner:

  • Competitive salary and bonus scheme
  • Excellent pension scheme (company contribution of up to 12%)
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays per year & opportunity to buy extra holidays.
  • Lunch vouchers
  • Share save scheme.
  • Exceptional reward and recognition events

What will you be doing as an Engineering Planner:

  • Develop work packs which contain all the necessary paperwork, reference materials, parts and specialist equipment to complete the task, including pitstops.
  • Develop and manage a closed loop feedback/improvement process for planned tasks.
  • Communication of task to cross functional teams.
  • Host planning meetings for customers to influence planning activities.
  • Assign work orders to the appropriate skill sets and review outcomes.
  • Source and collate tools, parts and equipment required for planned tasks.
  • Provide assistance to engineering stores in producing job kits.
  • Monitor and manage planning KPI’s.

What do you need to qualify for the Engineering Planner:

  • Experienced, time-served craftsperson with a minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in a fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) environment. Preferred HND or BEng.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and industry best practices, ideally coupled with IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH certification.
  • Ability to clearly and concisely articulate complex risks and control measures, ensuring understanding across all levels of personnel, from frontline workers to management.
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Proven experience applying Lean or Six Sigma methodologies
  • Previous data analysis experience, for the purpose of making improvements.
