Permit and Facilities Engineer

We are recruiting a Facilities Engineer to join our team based at our purpose-built, state-of-the-art warehousing and distribution facility in Raunds, Northamptonshire.

Reporting to the Facilities Manager, you’ll support three sites, responsible for day-to-day site contractor management and control, as well as general facilities management. The role is also responsible for fire safety, technical and environmental legislative compliance and procedures.

As a Facilities Engineer, you will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills along with the experience to supervise multi-disciplinary teams, including maintenance, grounds and contract workers. The role is operational, so it will require a hands-on approach as required.

Shift | Monday to Friday, 8 am – 4:30 pm with flexibility (Occasional weekend work may be required)

What will you be doing as a Permit & Facilities Engineer:

  • Ensuring facilities are compliant with all legislation, codes and standards with respect to Security, Safety, Health and Environmental management
  • Developing, implementing and maintaining effective contractor control engineering and maintenance procedures, adhering to safety, technical, legislative and group standards
  • Responding appropriately to emergencies or urgent issues as they arise and dealing with the consequences
  • Calculating and comparing costs for required goods or services to achieve maximum value for money
  • Ensuring safety procedures are followed on site for contractor control and permit to work management
  • Issuing permits to contractors and on-site staff, including audits on contractors
  • Quality testing of onsite water
  • General site maintenance (doors/lighting/plumbing)
  • Actioning BES remedial work from compliant inspections

 Key skills and experience required:

  • Level 2/3 NVQ in an engineering discipline
  • Electrical background – desirable
  • Strong decision-making skills with experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in technical and environmental legislation and processes that ensure compliance
  • Strong working knowledge of CDM (Construction Design & Management)
  • Project management, budget and finance control

There will be job-specific training, so you must be flexible to attend training sessions as and when required.
