Are you passionate about developing the next generation of skilled electricians? Do you have the drive to inspire apprentices not only to achieve their qualifications but also to grow into well-rounded, capable professionals prepared for all aspects of their future careers? If so, this role could be for you. At JTL, we’re looking for an experienced Electrical Tutor who is committed to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that shapes apprentices into confident, resilient, and capable professionals.
About the Role:
As an Electrical Tutor, you will deliver high-quality teaching and learning for our Level 3 Installation and Maintenance Electrician apprenticeship programme. This role goes beyond merely delivering “knowledge units” within an electrotechnical qualification. We’re seeking someone who can bring the curriculum to life, inspire a passion for the trade, and support our apprentices in both their personal and professional development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging learning experiences: Teach both theoretical and practical elements of electrical installation, ensuring that apprentices not only understand but can apply key concepts with confidence and fluency.
- Promote critical thinking and skill development: Use assessment and provide developmental feedback to help apprentices embed knowledge deeply, encouraging the development of skills that extend beyond memorisation to practical application in real-world settings.
- Support apprentices to successfully complete their apprenticeship: Use your classroom and workshop time not only to teach the theoretical and practical aspects of electrotechnical qualifications but also to ensure apprentices master the essential knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to achieve a pass at their final end-point assessment (AM2S).
- Cultivate a positive learning environment: Set high expectations for behaviour and actively manage the learning environment to create a space where apprentices feel safe, respected, and motivated to succeed.
- Support holistic personal development: Engage apprentices in understanding and embodying British values, developing personal traits like resilience, integrity, and respect, and equipping them with the tools to thrive in both professional and personal settings.
- Develop key skills for life and work: Assist apprentices in building essential literacy, language, numeracy, and digital skills to enhance their personal growth and support their success in both their studies and the world of work.
- Career and life skills preparation: Prepare apprentices for life beyond their apprenticeship by embedding employability skills, safeguarding, health and safety, and promoting mental and physical well-being in your lessons.
- Collaborate and innovate: Work with colleagues to continuously improve curriculum resources and delivery methods, ensuring all apprentices benefit from an outstanding and transformational learning experience.
- Uphold standards and safeguarding: As a role model, ensure the highest standards of discipline and professionalism, prioritising the welfare and safeguarding of apprentices in line with JTL policies.
What We’re Looking For:
- Essential:
- Level 3 Electrical qualification or equivalent, with strong technical knowledge and industry experience.
- Minimum of GCSE/O-Level Maths and English A-C, 9 – 4 or Level 2 Maths and English Level or equivalent
- Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) or equivalent teaching qualification or be willing to work towards this.
- Commitment to continuous personal and professional development in the electrical sector.
