Role Title: Head of Governance 

Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday–Friday

Salary: Circa £72,000

Contract: Permanent

Location: Dartford / Agile- 3 days a week minimum in the office is required

We’re excited to be recruiting a Head of Governance to lead and evolve our governance and compliance function. This is a pivotal role where you’ll shape and drive our Governance Framework, ensuring it aligns with our strategic goals and values. You’ll work closely with our Executive Team and Board, providing expert advice and oversight across governance, compliance, and data protection. This is a unique opportunity to influence how we operate at the highest levels, championing best practice and innovation. 

What we’re looking for

We’re seeking a strategic, forward-thinking governance professional with a strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, risk management, and data protection. You’ll be confident advising senior leaders, managing complex compliance requirements, and of course we take it as read that you will be top notch at taking minutes and leading a high-performing secretariat team.

Key Requirements:

  • Significant experience in governance or as a Company Secretary in the public, private, or not-for-profit sectors
  • A relevant professional qualification (e.g. Chartered Governance Institute) or equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Strong knowledge and experience of data protection legislation and experience supporting a data protection framework
  • Understanding of risk management and regulatory compliance in the social housing sector
  • Proven ability to influence at Board and Executive levels
  • Experience leading teams and managing change
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and governance systems 

Working arrangements:

  • Agile working is supported
  • 3 office days
  • Occasional travel to local offices and external meetings may be required
