Registered Manager - Fernery House

Have you got what it takes to be a Registered Manager with the National Autistic Society?

We are the leading UK charity for around 700,000 people with autism and their families. We provide information, support and pioneering services, and campaign for a better world for people with autism. We are proud of the difference we make.

The role:

We are looking for an experienced Registered Manager to join and lead our teams in our service in Fernery House.

Our support packages range from a few hours each week, to more comprehensive care packages for those with conditions such as epilepsy, sensory over- or under-sensitivity, and other health difficulties.

We are looking for committed individuals with a positive attitude, who have a passion to work in an organisation that specialises in autism. You’ll be working with autistic adults and their families, supporting adults with a diagnosis of autism to live the life they choose, achieve their goals and access a range of community resources and activities.

You will be responsible for leading the outstanding care and management of all aspects of your respective services, ensuring individual outcomes are met for the people we support; maintaining quality of service and striving to grow and develop the services, adapting to changing needs.

The role will have full legal responsibility for making sure the services ensure compliance with CQC regulation in relation to the day to day care of people accessing the service.

You will ensure that the needs of adults with autism are assessed, identified and met through careful programme planning and behaviour support; manage an agreed budget to provide an efficient, viable service; supervise and manage staff performance and coordinate positive, collaborative liaison with external agencies, multi-disciplinary teams and health professionals.

You will have proven experience of working as a Registered Manager with either a learning disability or mental health background. It would be desirable if you have worked in the autism sector, but not essential.

The philosophy of the services endorses the person-centred planning approach, promotes each person’s strengths and skills and the growth of individuals to their maximum potential. A positive, pro-active and flexible approach will be required.

Experience of managing a team is absolutely essential. You will also have an excellent working knowledge of care standards and related legislation as well as accurate and detailed report writing skills and business and finance skills to ensure the service is run on a sound financial basis.

Qualifications and Education: -

  • A recognised social work qualification or a professional qualification relevant to working with adults at least at level 4.
  • A qualification in management at least at level 4.
  • At least two years’ experience relevant to social care within the last five years.
  • At least two years’ experience supervising and managing professional staff.
  • Driving license preferred and access to own transport.

Appointees to the role of Registered Manager who do not have the management qualification (above) must enrol on a management training course within six months, and obtain a relevant management qualification within two years, of their appointment.

What we can offer you:

You’ll be joining our team, both locally and nationally and we’ll support you every step of the way. We provide a fantastic induction programme, regular reflective supervision, continuing learning and development opportunities and the support you need to develop a career in social care, not to mention the continuing satisfaction of helping to improve someone’s quality of life.
