About the role:
Network Rail Consulting is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager with a strong background in European Train Control Systems (ETCS) rail projects to join our Brisbane team.
This position will oversee and coordinate ETCS project activities within Queensland, working closely with the QLD State Manager and Director of Project & Program Management to align with NRC’s project management methodology.
What you will be involved in:
- Lead project management functions for allocated ETCS projects, ensuring delivery meets project objectives and customer requirements.
- Define project scope and technical requirements in collaboration with subject matter experts (SME).
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and reporting in line with ETCS project standards.
- Apply robust project management practices to deliver outputs on time, within scope, and to quality standards.
- Identify and manage scope changes, addressing variations with clients effectively.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and NRC governance requirements.
- Coordinate interfaces with other disciplines and related projects for seamless integration.
- Provide input into cost estimates, risk assessments, and opportunity identification.
- Champion safety management and best-practice procedures throughout delivery.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships and maintain alignment on priorities and timelines.
Experience & Qualifications:
Essential:
- Experience in digital signalling projects (ETCS) and understanding of major rail infrastructure.
- Proven project management experience delivering small to medium projects, including risk management.
- Strong knowledge of project lifecycle, project principles, and risk management tools.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and interface management skills.
- Ability to produce clear, concise reports and summarise complex issues effectively.
- Familiarity with governance, compliance, and internal reporting standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritise under pressure.
- Flexible, proactive approach to ensure successful project delivery.
- Ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders and collaborate with SMEs on technical detail
Desirable:
- Proven experience in delivering change and compliance projects.
- Formal qualifications in risk management and/or project management.
- Proficiency in project scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a relevant discipline.
