About the Role

NRC supports multiple US clients from our strategic locations in Washington DC, New York City, and Boston, as well as West Coast clients from our offices in California and Seattle.

We are seeking a Business Analyst for our Seattle location.

You will provide support to our internal project teams and our clients, maintaining and ensuring project data are aligned across the agency systems and applications. This will involve overseeing the integration and synchronization of project data across various software systems and platforms used by the agency, which includes validating the accuracy and consistency of project information stored in databases, spreadsheets, project management software, and other relevant applications.

 Additionally, this role involves troubleshooting any discrepancies or data integrity issues that may arise, collaborating with internal professionals as needed to implement solutions.

The initial client work will be with Sound Transit and King County Metro staff, focusing on data related to work orders, inventory, training data, and project dashboards.

What will you be doing?

  • Troubleshooting any discrepancies or data integrity issues that may arise, collaborating with internal professionals as needed to implement solutions.
  • Responsible for maintaining Prophix for department operating budget and forecast. This will involve overseeing the configuration, setup, and ongoing management of the Prophix software platform specifically tailored for managing the department's operating budget and forecasting processes.
  • Ensuring data accuracy, system integrity, and user access permissions within Prophix, as well as providing user support, training, and troubleshooting assistance as needed.
  • Collaborating with finance and departmental stakeholders to optimize the utilization of Prophix functionalities, streamline budgeting workflows, and enhance forecasting accuracy to support informed decision-making.
  • Preparing monthly reports to monitor the budget versus actual financial performance of each of the client operating modes.
  • Monitoring allocated charges from business units outside of Operations to ensure that hours and costs charged to Operations are accurate; this may include monitoring timesheet charges to operating business modes, timesheet charges to capital projects, or validating allocation rules are being applied correctly and accurately reflecting agreed-upon budgets.
  • Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and alternative service delivery scenarios as requested.
  • Review monthly invoices and supporting details from partners to validate adherence to the
  • Ensure data quality and compliance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Assist the Client, Project Manager or project team as required.

About You

Job Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Excellent communicator and writer
  • Ability to analyze financial propositions
  • Understanding of program/project delivery
  • Experience of working within the Railroad/Transit sector
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Business Suite (specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Experienced in developing, implementing and managing systems and processes resulting in safe, effective and efficient infrastructure operation.
  • Significant experience and knowledge of transit assets and approaches to Asset Management and Maintenance
  • Ability to work across a multidisciplinary team and establish relationships at all levels
